Two-storey apartment in Oslo — brutalist style with a touch of Scandinavian minimalism
Joint project of Predio development company and Ukrainian agency IK-Architects
Concept
After the successful implementation of the attic apartment HG-31 in Oslo, the architectural bureau IK-Architects in cooperation with the developer Predio presented a new project - a two-story apartment in the style of brutalism inspired by the aesthetics of Tom Ford.
The main objective was to create a space for a young person or couple without children: cozy, modern and stylish, but with character.
Planning solutions
The apartment has two levels and a clear zoning that separates the private part from the public. On the ground floor there is a spacious kitchen-living room, a bathroom and a bedroom with a hidden storage system. An unusual solution was the glass wall between the bedroom and the shower, which creates an additional accent and emphasizes the individuality of the space.
Design and materials
The interior combines minimalism and brutalism.
The concrete wall and microcement floor are left authentic, emphasizing the character of the building.
Untreated black metal is used in stairs and interior details, covered only with a transparent matte varnish.
The balance is created by natural wood, red metal, accent chairs and a bright blue picture, which adds warmth and colorful depth to the interior.
A special solution was a sliding dark monolithic system that hides the kitchen unit and the entrance door. This detail has already become a characteristic feature of the collaboration between Predio and IK-Architects, because a similar solution was implemented in the HG-31 project.
Atmosphere
Despite the use of dark materials, the interior looks light and comfortable thanks to a well-thought-out lighting strategy, the use of wood and a harmonious combination of textures. It is a space that is not only functional, but also emotional — it transforms the feeling of the inhabitants and creates a unique life experience.
Valor
The project is an example of how renovating an abandoned attic can give the city new quality housing. It demonstrates the synergy of two professional teams: Predio, which specializes in the conversion of attics in central Oslo, and IK-Architects, a Ukrainian agency with more than 10 years of experience in creating interiors in the style of Scandinavian design and minimalism.
This realization is not only a stylish solution, but also a contribution to the sustainable development of the city, where architecture works to improve the quality of life through the reuse and meaningful transformation of space.
