In 1914, Mariacka pharmacy opened its doors in the center of Lviv for the first time. Its “golden age” began in 1919, when the institution was acquired by pharmacist Stepan Stensel. More than a century has passed — and the space has been given a new lease of life. Today it is known as Symbol Stensel — a contemporary beauty boutique.

For more than a hundred years, the room did not change its function. Only now on the shelves instead of pharmacy jars there are exclusive perfumes and rare creams.

Most of the historic furniture has been preserved and carefully restored. Inside the showcases, we added velvet walls and warm lighting, thanks to which the products literally shine. The main hall has a new lighting system — each corner now works on the overall history of the space.

The floor, which could not be saved, we recreated in the form of a mosaic to order. It is inspired by classic British pubs — timeless, discreet and at the same time as if it had always been here.

One of the biggest challenges was the technical part. You will not see any air conditioners or diffusers - everything was hidden on the balcony of the mezzanine. The space remained clean and free of excess, at the same time providing perfect comfort.

In the center of the hall are two new demonstration “island” showcases. They look as if they were cast from metal — almost futuristic, yet their bionic forms fit naturally into the historical setting.

Several mirrors, vintage radiators and a wide display window combine all the details into a single picture.

As a result, we have a space where history remains alive, but at the same time the rhythm of modern life is felt.
