Pie Pie kids is a children's clothing store. We occupied a two-storey building that used to be a restaurant. Some parts of the interior we simply updated, and others - redesigned from scratch.
One of the unique features of the space were the classic ceilings, parquet floors and wall panels that we inherited. This not only allowed us to make the project more sustainable — we wanted to preserve as much as possible — but it also gave the store a softer, more charming character. We used ash veneer for all the furniture, floor tiles and wall paint. Since the store is filled with colorful products, our task was to create an interior that would bring everything together into a whole object. That is why we decided to work with simple materials and colors: only wood, only tiles and paint, only simple shapes. We also preserved the old stairs by simply repainting them and sheathing the railings with new wooden panels.
The place where the hookah was once smoked on the veranda is now a place for selling children's dishes and a fitting room.
Not every store offers a toilet for visitors, but since it is a children's store, we have equipped it together with a child-sized sink. There was also an old door leading to the storage room, which is always closed, and a separate door to the toilet. We decided to visually highlight them and highlight the entrance to the toilet.
The cash desk has been designed so that it can be clearly seen from all corners of the hall. It is soft, covered with fabric and decorated with sewn pompoms. At first we thought of making the pompons removable as small souvenirs, but quickly realized that we would not be able to keep up with their replacement. When the space is filled with colorful objects, there is no point in trying to compete with them visually, but we have made ourselves one exception: the cash desk. After all, it is a children's shop, and childhood is fun and joy.
In one of the halls, we inherited a marble floor, a fireplace and a door from a former restaurant. We decided to keep them all and just repaint them in our palette. Now in this space, clothes are for moms and not for children, so the interior looks more adult.
Located in the historic part of the city, we didn't touch the facade — we just updated the paint, added signage, wall sconces, and a pair of eyes on the bushes. We bought the simplest garlands and transformed them into little shining eyes all over the facade. Now the store is constantly watching children passing by.
We just updated the old parquet, repainted the ceilings and walls, added new decor — and got a whole new world in return.
