Ukrainian embroidery is a language of symbols. The complex system of signs, which developed together with the people, absorbed the history, culture, and worldview of hundreds of generations of Ukrainians. It is a space, a separate filled, complete universe that continues to expand — to acquire new symbols, to rethink and supplement with existing meanings.

From this symbiosis of art and magic, my collection was born: folk elements of vyshyvanka, reflecting a complex system of symbols of the surrounding world and having a magic-protective function.

Embroidered shirt has long been considered a powerful amulet. Each stitch, each ornament carried a sacred meaning and had to protect the wearer. Embroidered signs necessarily decorated the wrists, neck and hem - the most “vulnerable” places of the shirt, where negative energy can reach the body.

The shirt was inherited from generation to generation. It was believed that this is how the thing is filled with the energy of its predecessors, and the person who wears it feels the support and protection of his flags.

Today, the embroidered shirt has acquired even more spiritual significance for us. Already the shirt itself has become a symbol — a symbol of unity in the struggle for independence, while not losing its ancient magical and protective meaning. Many people wear embroidered shirts as a talisman. This is our status, our way of showing the world that the Ukrainian nation lives and fights.

For me, the appeal to traditional symbolism is a return to the origins, to the protective wing of the genus, where you gain strength, learn to appreciate the will. It is as if you tie a broken thread and continue to strengthen our spiritual armor — stitch after stitch, stitch after stitch...
