A bright and functional apartment of the designer, embodying warm minimalism, combining functional solutions with personalized emotional accents.
The property is located in a new building of the Kiev residential complex “Respublika”.
For me, it was important to make the space minimalist, but not cold. Simple shapes, combinations of textures and colors, and emotional decorative accents helped in this.
We made adjustments to the basic layout of the apartment: we attached the loggia to the living room, made a sufficient amount of built-in storage. In this way, it was possible to obtain a concise space without unnecessary furniture and things.
The main materials in the project were wood, concrete, linen textiles and glass. The palette of the project consists of earth tones, sand, gray and several shades of warm white.
As for a professional designer, for me the basis is the functionality of the space, especially when it comes to a small area of the apartment. There is nothing superfluous in it, every thing has its place and purpose, every meter is useful.
To visually enlarge the space, I used a large mirror in the kitchen with a height of 2.7 m. and a width of 1.6 m. and a height to the ceiling - in the bedroom. It visually enlarges the space and doubles the landscaping of the room.
A corridor in dark wood creates the effect of additional depth. Also works a large closet in the bedroom with a dark glass facade.
I am close to the appreciation of the imperfect, the natural. Hence, cracks, untreated wood, rough textiles and landscaping in the project.
Favorite place in the apartment is the area near the wooden kitchen table, which was made custom for the project.
The material for him was a tree that had been growing in my family's yard for many years. In this way, the family history is preserved in the piece of furniture.
The emotional accents in the apartment were works of art. At first glance, these are pleasing to the eye pictures in concise colors. If you look closely, you can read the lines of calligraphic writing.
Ukrainian calligrapher Eugene Bird created these works on our order. The paintings are written in old Ukrainian font. In the living room hangs the diptych “Wings” with a poem by the modern Ukrainian poet Lina Kostenko. It is a poem about the spiritually rich man having wings and capable of great things.
The second picture is the poem “Love Ukraine” by Vladimir Sosyura, a classic of Ukrainian literature, written in white on a gray background. A poem about respect for one's native land and awareness of one's own cultural identity, which is especially relevant today.
