At the intersection of historical architecture and contemporary experimentation, a new project was born in Notting Hill — an interior that combined British Victorian elegance and the rebellious aesthetics of punk.

The customer was a young artist who wanted to get a space that could reflect her elegance and at the same time independence. The architects deliberately abandoned the traditional image of a “classic London apartment” and created an interior where severity borders on provocation.

One-bedroom apartment got to us with a difficult layout. Due to the limited space, the living room was forced to share the area with the kitchen, so we used this as a challenge in finding new opportunities.

The key element was the kitchen island - a reused chest of drawers with a history of more than 200 years, which we purchased at the vintage market. Meanwhile, the wall part of the kitchen is made with stainless steel facades, as if by chance it has settled in this space, very industrial and contrasting.

Another feature is the dining area in the bay window, where the sofa with exclusive fabric from Paolo Moschino is “hidden”.

Reflecting the personal history and character of the owner, we searched for a significant part of the furniture in vintage markets, and some interior items were delivered from Ukraine.

The apartment has two bedrooms: the main one is distinguished by glossy black doors, while the guest room has retained the original stained-glass doors. The bathroom interprets the aesthetics of New York: a combination of accent mosaic graphics and exclusive plumbing with brass details.

Instead of the traditional carpet for London, the floor is decorated with parquet, under which an additional layer of noise insulation has been arranged: in most rooms it has a discreet pattern, in the living room it is more complex, emphasizing the compositional center.

As a result, we have a home that demonstrates a new vision of life in a Victorian home: an aesthetic that both honors tradition and boldly opposes it.
